Falkirk to Stirling by Train

By Stirling Guide editors · Updated 22 October 2026

From Falkirk, the station to use for Stirling is Falkirk Grahamston rather than Falkirk High. The direct ScotRail and LNER trains from there take about 15 minutes, 12 on the quickest, and on a weekday they ran roughly every half hour from 05:53 to 23:11, 37 departures in all. The train the planner listed made one stop before Stirling. Most hours have two Grahamston departures roughly half an hour apart, such as the 09:08 and 09:41 or the 14:12 and 14:37.

With trains this short and this frequent, Grahamston works for almost any plan, including a late return: the 23:11 was the last Stirling train from either Falkirk station on the weekday timetable we checked.

From Falkirk High

If Falkirk High is the nearer station for you, there is a route from there too, but it needs a change at Croy. The first ScotRail train takes about 8 minutes to Croy, and the second about 18 minutes on to Stirling. With a wait of around 12 minutes at Croy, the whole trip from Falkirk High comes to roughly 38 minutes.

These connections ran every 60 to 90 minutes or so between 07:14 and 22:43, with 14 departures on the weekday list against 37 from Grahamston, and the spacing was uneven: on that list the 13:15 was followed by the 14:45, and the 15:14 by the 17:15. Since the Croy route takes more than twice as long as the Grahamston train and runs less than half as often, it only makes sense if Falkirk High is much easier for you to get to.
